Glyn Charles Pursuit Race

Race report 2008 2008 prize winners Sponsors 2008 Glyn Charles Stories

GLYN CHARLES MEMORIAL RACE

Every year this fun, family event grows in popularity – and is generously supported by many industry sponsors.  First prize for the 2008 event was a Neilson Watersports holiday for two, won by Dicken Maclean and Emma Groves in their RS 200

Competing in (or simply watching) the race is an enjoyable way to honour Glyn, spend time in his beloved Chichester harbour, raise money for charity, and have a great chance to win one of many generous prizes.

ABOUT GLYN

Glyn Charles, one of Great Britain's best young sailors, was tragically lost in the 1998 Sydney Hobart race. Each year, friends and acquaintances invite dinghy and small keelboat sailors from around the country to compete in the Glyn Charles Memorial Pursuit Race, held in Chichester Harbour and run by Hayling Island Sailing Club.

THE JOHN MERRICKS TRUST FUND

All the money raised from the race entry is donated to the John Merricks Sailing Trust which was set up in memory of one of Glyn’s great sailing friends, who died tragically in 1997.  The trust aims to advance the education and physical and mental development of young people in need (under the age of 25 years), and develop their potential through sailing.

Please put the date in your diary, and look here for more details here nearer the time!
